Body Heat 03:02
I know that I could not survive All alone in isolation I got to get to my body heat From the many people I know I got to have a steady flow Of voices and pretty faces I stay in crowd places 'Cause I need the body heat Gimme, gimme your body heat Save me from the blizzard Gimme, gimme your body heat Save me from the cold All I want is your body heat To keep me from freezing You can make me warm inside If you give me your body heat Something scares me every time I'm alone in seclusion I don't have no body heat When I'm all by myself I got to have a place to go To get some embraces And the speaker cranked up Because I need my body heat Gimme, gimme your body heat Make me a fire Gimme, gimme your body heat Oh, save me now All I want is your body heat To keep me from freezing You can make me warm inside If you give me your body heat You can make me warm inside If you give me your body heat Gimme, gimmbe body heat Make me a fire All I want is body heat Save me from the cold Gimme, gimme body heat Make me, make me a fire All I want is body heat Save me from the cold, oh Gimme, gimme body heat Make me a fire

Break Away 03:26
The stars were dancing when I pulled into town I picked my ego up and turned it around Voices of angels sang a hymn in my ear The tune was heavy and the meaning was clear The message moved me in a sweet symphony Lifted my spirit into sweet harmony When they sang, "Break away" It's a new day It's the morning of your life Break away - This is your day Make it count, make it right, break away, break away Some people can't believe in mystical things But I believed it when I heard the angels sing I watched the day break on the east side of town I dropped the shackles that were keeping me down I knew the message in the meaning was true It gave me hope and it will give it to you Oh, honey, break away It's a new day It's the morning of your life Break away - This is your day Make it count, make it right, break away, break away
3.
I find I write my best songs at high altitudes I find I make I make my best love at high altitudes Think I should fly more frequently I dreamed that I was sleeping in the open air I dreamed I woke and flew away without a care Think I should dream more frequently (I dreamed that I was sleeping in the open air) A mirror of sorts My mind's eye piercing the night The glory of sunburst Of starships, the bright shining light The borders, the boundaries, to places Not clearly defined; anticipation, it's in me Anticipation, it's in me I soar, I soar at my best at high altitudes I cry, I cry my least at high altitudes Should be high, high, should be high more frequently Should be high, high, should be high more frequently
4.
City Rhythm 03:42
City rhythm got me now Oh, rock-a my soul Arrhythmic pulse of the cardiac pounding Here in rhythm city We got hot blood walking on the street Flashing in the light show Sidewalk cracks under dancing feet That is how the juice flows In the heat of one sweet summer night Ease on in to something that feels right to you Let your heart beat with song To the metro metronome You will never be alone You got city rhythm You got city rhythm City rhythm's got you now Oh, rock-a your soul Your rhythm is right And you've found your home here in rhythm city We got shot gun smoking from the heat Like the blue lava Mainstreet shakes from a volcano The heart of the beat where the city strutters let go You got city rhythm You got city rhythm
5.
We Are One 04:22
You sleep just like a baby After you've been holding me With tenderness and with love And as I watch you sleeping My heart builds up with feelings That make me cry the tears of love Chorus: We are one, You and me, baby In body and soul, We are one We take care of our special love And when the morning comes And in the face of the sun We'll still be together We are one, we are one As I watch you sleeping I wonder how I'd ever live without you dear Oh, without your love My fingers trace your brow And then I feel a tingle deep inside, takin' a high We were making love, oh love Repeat Chorus And when the morning comes And in the face of the sun We'll still be together We are one We are one
6.
Please don't talk about love tonight Please don't talk about sweet love Please don't talk about being true And all the trouble we've been through Ah, please don't talk about all of the plans We had for fixing this broken romance I want to go where the people dance I want some action, I wanna live Action, I got so much to give I want to give it, I want to get some too Chorus: I love the nightlife I've got to boogie On the disco round, oh yea Oh, I love the nightlife I've got to boogie On the disco round, oh yea Please don't talk about love tonight Your sweet talking won't make it right Love and lies just bring me down When you've got women all over town You can love them all and when you're through Maybe that'll make a man out of you I got to go where the people dance I want some action, I wanna live Action, I got so much to give I want to give it, I want to get some too Repeat Chorus
7.
How much have you sacrificed? How much have you given in the name of love? Just how many crying nights How much have you given in the name of love? Love's illusion is just like a dream All illusions fall apart at the seams And it really wasn't love at all You paid the price in the name of love In the name of love Sweet love, I'm crying for you In the name of love Sweet love, I'm dying for you I'll die for you, 'cause I sure do love you, baby How much time and loneliness How much have you given in the name of love? Did your baby live in bliss Kiss, kiss, while you were giving in the name of love? Was your love wasted along with your pride By someone selfish was barren inside So you got the blues and you took it too You paid the price in the name of love In the name of love Sweet love, I'm crying for you In the name of love Sweet love, I'm dying for you I'll die for you, 'cause I love you, baby Well, I cry for you, baby It's all in the name of love In the name of love Die for you, baby It's all in the name of love In the name of love
8.
Have you ever noticed what a show we're putting on? Singing our own praises, painting our old faces The art of putting on airs in moments of despair The act of strutting on stage with egotistic rage A play of tragedy with self applause Lost in the sound of it Self applause The curtain comes down with self applause What is life when it's lived this way It's just a masquerade An empty shell, a living hell with self applause Self applause Here, with vanity aflame At the height of self acclaim A theatrical affair, the mimic rants and raves A sad charade with self applause Lost in the sound of it Self applause The curtain comes down with self applause "Oh, look at me" He cries out to the crowd But the audience is gone He is standing all alone with self applause Self applause Lost in the sound of it Self applause The curtain comes down with self applause
9.
You've heard the way people talk about me Do you like the things they say Or do you find it disconcerting and unkind It's a joke I've learned to live with Being different from the crowd They'd like to polish me up Give me a trim, water me down, make me be like them But I'm a diamond in the rough A diamond in the rough Taking my time Deciding when to shine Diamond in the rough Diamond in the rough Diamond in the rough Diamond in the rough I had hoped that you would love me Since I could fall in love with you Could we find our place in each other somewhere tonight Oh, I hope so Or has the talk decayed the beauty That we once began to find Would you like to polish me up Give me a trim, water me down, make me be like them I'm still a diamond in the rough A diamond in the rough Taking my time, deciding when to shine Diamond in the rough Diamond in the rough Diamond in the rough, diamond in the rough

Broken Woman 04:22
A broken woman sits at the bar Sipping gin and tonic She thinks she's the star The star of the dance floor The goddess of love She shakes to the music till the last song is gone She wants to change At least that's what she says But she just can't relate She just can't find herself What a foolish broken woman Her face is aging, oh, yes it is The years take hold She's got lines on her skin and marks on her soul It's money she's after; pills are a must She's clutching at life But all she touches turns to dust She wants to change At least that's what she says But she just can't relate She just can't find herself What a foolish broken woman She is drunk and half crazy Every night when she leaves the bar And then she drives through the night In her big shiny car Nobody loves her; nobody cares She's all by herself No one wants to be there with her She wants to change At least that's what she says But she just can't relate She just can't find herself What a foolish broken woman She's got the broken woman blues

about

Alicia Bridges is the eponymous debut album from disco singer-songwriter Alicia Bridges, released in 1978 on Polydor Records. The album featured the smash hit single, "I Love the Nightlife (Disco Round)", which, when released as a 12" single (as remixed by producer Jim Burgess, reached a peak of number 5 on the Billboard, Cash Box & Record World charts in 1978 (quickly becoming an RIAA-certified gold record for sales of over one million copies; it would now be seen as a platinum record).[3]

Bridges released a second single shortly thereafter; the rock-inflected "Body Heat", which had the same strong backbeat as her big hit, but also featured more prominent rhythm guitar. The song became a minor hit, but it was the success of the first single that drove the album, which climbed the charts quickly and remained there for a total of 35 weeks. Bridges would be nominated for a Grammy and performed the hit single as an opening act.
